Children Exams

At Island Eye Care we believe children's vision and children's eye exams are just as important as adult exams. Sometimes children don't know how the world should look, so they might not be able to tell mom and dad there is a visual problem. Dr. Turner recommends thorough eye examinations for all children prior to starting school, ideally at the age of 3, then 5, then yearly visits. Dr. Turner is also an InfantSEE doctor, which allows all children under the age of 1 to have an eye exam at no cost to mom and dad. Children's eye exams will test for: visual acuity, eye muscle development, color vision, stereo or depth testing, focusing ability, and retinal health as well.
